To freeze inventory in Sage 100, you'll use the Physical Count Worksheet feature. This process allows you to take a snapshot of your current inventory levels before performing a physical count.
Here's how to do it:
- Select Inventory Management > Physical Count menu > Physical Count Worksheet.
- Enter the selection criteria. This involves specifying the items, product lines, and warehouses you want to include in the physical count. Be specific to avoid unintended consequences.
- In the Report Options field, choose "Freeze Items Only".
- Click "Print". This action will generate the Physical Count Worksheet and, most importantly, freeze the selected inventory items.
By selecting "Freeze Items Only", the system records the on-hand quantity of the selected items at the time the worksheet is printed. This frozen quantity is then used as the starting point for your physical count. Any transactions affecting these items after they are frozen will not be reflected in the physical count data, ensuring accuracy.
It is crucial to understand that freezing inventory is a temporary state. Once the physical count is complete and reconciled, the frozen inventory data is typically used to update the system.
