Published in Samsung App Management 3 mins read

To move apps on your Samsung Galaxy, you can easily rearrange app shortcuts on your Home screen by touching and holding them, then dragging them to your desired location, or add new app shortcuts from the Apps screen to your Home screen.

Organizing your Samsung Galaxy's Home screen is simple and allows for optimal personalization, ensuring your most used apps are right where you need them.

Rearranging Existing App Shortcuts on Your Home Screen

If you want to change the position of an app shortcut already on your Home screen or move it to a different Home screen page:

  • Step 1: Locate the Shortcut
    • Go to the Home screen where the app shortcut you wish to move is visible.
  • Step 2: Initiate the Move
    • Touch and hold the app shortcut. You'll feel a slight vibration, and the icon will usually enlarge, signaling it's ready to be moved.
  • Step 3: Drag to New Position
    • While still holding the app shortcut, drag it to another part of the screen.
      • You can place it in any empty space on the current Home screen.
      • Drag it to the left or right edge of the screen to automatically shift to an adjacent Home screen page.
      • Release your finger when the shortcut is in your desired spot.

Adding New App Shortcuts to Your Home Screen

To bring an app's shortcut from your full Apps screen onto one of your accessible Home screens:

  • Step 1: Access the Apps Screen
    • Swipe up from the bottom of your Home screen. This action opens the Apps screen, which lists all your installed applications.
  • Step 2: Find the Desired App
    • Navigate through your apps or use the search bar to locate the application you want to add as a shortcut.
  • Step 3: Place on Home Screen
    • Touch and hold the desired app icon from the Apps screen.
    • Without lifting your finger, drag it towards the top of the screen. Your phone will automatically switch back to a Home screen view.
    • Continue dragging the icon to your preferred location on any Home screen page and then release your finger to place the shortcut.
