How to Put a Fingerprint Lock on a Samsung?

Published in Samsung Security 2 mins read

To set up a fingerprint lock on your Samsung phone, you need to access the security settings and add your fingerprint. Here's how:

  1. Open Settings: On your Samsung phone, locate and open the "Settings" app.

  2. Navigate to Security and Privacy: Scroll down in the Settings menu until you find "Security and privacy" and tap on it.

  3. Biometrics: Look for an option related to "Biometrics" (it might also say "Biometrics and security" or something similar). Tap on this option.

  4. Fingerprints: Within the Biometrics section, you should see "Fingerprints." Select this.

  5. Follow the On-Screen Instructions: The phone will likely prompt you to confirm your existing PIN, password, or pattern (if you have one already set up). After that, follow the on-screen prompts to register your fingerprint. This usually involves repeatedly placing your finger on the fingerprint sensor until the phone has a complete scan.

  6. Complete the Registration: Once the fingerprint registration is complete, you can use it to unlock your phone. You'll also be able to manage your fingerprints from this menu, adding more or deleting existing ones.

  7. Enable Fingerprint Unlock: Ensure that the fingerprint unlock option is enabled within the Biometrics settings. This will activate the fingerprint sensor as a method for unlocking your device.
