How to Line a Sandbox?

Published in Sandbox Construction 1 min read

Lining a sandbox properly involves preparing the base, installing a barrier for drainage and weed prevention, and ensuring the sandbox walls are stable. Here’s how to do it:

Steps to Line a Sandbox

  1. Prepare the area:

    • Dig out the soil. It's important to dig deep enough so the bottom edge of the sandbox is slightly below the surface. This will help keep the walls of your sandbox in place.
  2. Install Landscape Fabric:

    • Put down a layer of landscape fabric. This material allows for drainage, preventing water from pooling in the sandbox. More importantly, it keeps weeds and grass from growing up through the sand, maintaining a clean play area.
Step Description
1. Dig Out Soil Create a shallow depression so the sandbox sits slightly below ground level.
2. Landscape Fabric Install a layer of landscape fabric to allow drainage and prevent weed growth.

By following these steps, you'll create a sandbox that is both functional and easy to maintain.
