How Do I Read QR Code on Samsung?

Published in Scan QR Code Samsung 2 mins read

You can quickly scan a QR code on your Samsung phone using the built-in QR scanner accessible via the Quick Settings panel.

Reading a QR code on your Samsung device is a simple process integrated into the phone's system. The quickest method utilizes a dedicated scanner function found in your Quick Settings.

Steps to Scan a QR Code

Follow these steps to use the Quick Settings QR scanner:

  1. Swipe down from the top of your screen to pull up your Quick Settings panel.
  2. Look for and select the QR Scanner icon. You might need to swipe left on the Quick Settings panel to find it depending on your layout.
  3. A prompt might appear asking for permission or confirmation. Select "OK" to proceed.
  4. The camera application will automatically launch, ready to scan. Simply point your camera at the QR code.

Your Samsung phone should automatically recognize the QR code and display the relevant information or action (like opening a website link, connecting to Wi-Fi, etc.).

Troubleshooting: Scanner Not Found or Working

If you cannot find the QR Scanner icon in your Quick Settings or if the scanning function isn't working after selecting it, you may need to ensure it is enabled or added to your Quick Settings layout.

  • Enable/Add Scanner: Tap the settings icon (often a pencil or three dots) at the top left or bottom of the Quick Settings panel. This allows you to edit the layout. Find the QR Scanner option and drag it into your active Quick Settings icons.
  • Check Camera Settings: Sometimes, QR code scanning can be controlled within the main Camera app's settings. Open your Camera app and look for a setting related to "Scan QR codes" or "Bixby Vision" which might include QR scanning functionality. Ensure this is toggled on.

By using the Quick Settings or checking camera options, you can easily read QR codes with your Samsung phone.
