How to Take a Screenshot on a Dell Laptop?

Published in Screenshot Tutorial 2 mins read

Taking a screenshot on a Dell laptop can be done quickly and easily using a simple keyboard shortcut.

Using the PrtSc Key

According to the fastest method, you can capture your screen by pressing the dedicated Print Screen key, often labeled as PrtSc, PrntScrn, or similar, usually located in the upper-right section of your keyboard.

Here's how this method works:

  1. Press the PrtSc Key: This action captures the entire screen currently displayed on your laptop monitor.
  2. Screenshot is Copied to Clipboard: Instead of saving a file immediately, pressing PrtSc copies the image of your screen to your computer's clipboard. Think of the clipboard as temporary storage for copied items.
  3. Paste the Screenshot: To view, save, or edit your screenshot, you need to paste it from the clipboard into an application. You can do this in image editors (like Paint, Photoshop, or even built-in Windows tools), documents (like Word), or email bodies. To paste, simply press Ctrl + V simultaneously in the destination application.

This method is ideal for quickly grabbing a snapshot of your screen without needing to open any software beforehand. You can then paste and save it in your preferred format (.jpg, .png, etc.) using the application you pasted it into.
