How to Stitch a Back Stitch?

Published in Sewing Stitches 1 min read

The back stitch is created by making individual stitches that move backwards to fill in the gaps, creating a solid line.

Here's how to stitch a back stitch:

  1. Start by bringing your needle up through the fabric.
  2. Make a stitch forward.
  3. Skip a stitch length and bring the needle up through the back of the fabric again.
  4. Instead of moving forward, move backward and bring the needle down through the end of the previous stitch.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to create a continuous line.
