Here's how to remove an air lock from your electric shower:
An air lock can prevent water from flowing properly through your electric shower. This often results in sputtering, reduced water pressure, or no water at all. Following these steps will help resolve the issue:
Steps to Remove Air Lock
- Turn off the pump: If your shower has a separate pump, make sure it's turned off before starting.
- Remove shower head: Detach the shower head from the hose.
- Position the hose: Let the shower hose hang down into the bath or shower tray. This allows air to escape easily.
- Set to cold: Turn the shower temperature control to full cold.
- Run on cold: Turn on the shower and let it run for about 5 minutes on full cold.
- Switch to hot: After 5 minutes on cold, change the temperature to full hot and let the shower run for another 5 minutes.
- Turn off the shower: After running it on both cold and hot, turn off the shower.
This process helps to push the trapped air out of the system.
Why does this work? By allowing the water to flow freely through the hose without the shower head and alternating between cold and hot, air pockets are dislodged and pushed out with the water. The hanging hose assists in this process, enabling the air to move upwards and out.
If the issue persists after following these steps, it's advisable to consult a professional plumber or electrician.
