How to Sit on Sit Bones?

Published in Sitting Posture 1 min read

To sit on your sit bones, also known as your ischial tuberosities, follow these steps to improve your posture and comfort while seated:

  • Make sure you are sitting on a chair where your hips are slightly higher than your knees.
  • Find your bottom or SIT bones and widen the base by spreading these bones wide.
  • Ensure that you sit on the SIT bones and feel relaxed around the pelvis and hips.
  • Lengthen through the spine and relax and widen your shoulders.

In essence, you want to position yourself so that your weight is evenly distributed on these bony prominences at the base of your pelvis, allowing for an upright and balanced posture.
