To remove a group from a group in SketchUp (effectively "ungrouping" it from its parent group), you'll use the Ungroup command. Here's how:
Ungrouping: Releasing Entities from a Group
-
Select the Group: In your SketchUp model, select the group you want to remove from its parent group. Make sure you've selected the specific group and not the larger, encompassing group.
-
Ungroup: You can ungroup in one of two ways:
- Method 1: Via the Menu Bar: Go to
Edit > Ungroup
in the menu bar. - Method 2: Via Context Menu: Right-click (or context-click) on the selected group and choose
Ungroup
from the pop-up menu.
- Method 1: Via the Menu Bar: Go to
-
Entities are Now Separate: After ungrouping, the entities that were previously part of the group will now be individual entities within the parent group or the overall model (if it was the only group).
In essence, ungrouping extracts the contents of the selected group and dissolves the group boundary. You will now be able to interact with the individual entities that comprised the former group.
