To remove a matched image in SketchUp, you need to delete the specific Scene that was created with your matched photo. Deleting the scene removes the photo-match setup associated with it.
Deleting a Matched Photo Scene in SketchUp
In SketchUp, when you use the "Match Photo" feature, it creates a specific scene that stores the perspective and settings for that photo. To remove the matched image, you simply delete this scene.
Here are the two primary ways to remove the scene containing your matched photo, as detailed in the SketchUp documentation:
Method 1: Using the Scene Tab Context Menu
This is often the quickest method if you have scene tabs visible in your SketchUp window.
- Locate the scene tab at the top of your modeling window that corresponds to the matched photo you want to remove.
- Context-click (right-click on Windows, Control-click on Mac) on this specific scene tab.
- From the menu that appears, select Delete.
SketchUp will immediately remove the scene and its associated matched photo settings.
Method 2: Using the Scenes Dialog
The Scenes dialog provides a central place to manage all your scenes, including deleting them.
- Open the Scenes dialog. You can typically find this under
Window > Scenes
in the menu bar. - In the list of scenes displayed in the dialog box, select the specific scene that contains your matched photo.
- Click the Remove Scene button. This button is represented by a minus sign (-) icon.
SketchUp will then delete the selected scene and the matched photo linked to it.
Important Note: Deleting the scene removes the photo-match setup and the imported image used for matching that scene. It does not affect other images imported into your model as textures or objects unless they were part of that specific Match Photo scene creation.
