The lifespan of skin cells is two to four weeks. This means that every month, our skin completely renews itself. However, the time it takes for the entire process of skin cell renewal, from being pushed up to dying and being replaced, can be as long as six weeks.
This constant renewal process involves the creation of new cells in the basal layer, which then rise to the surface, replacing older cells that have died and become part of the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of skin.
