The two most important functions of sweat are:
- Thermoregulation: Sweat's primary function is to help regulate body temperature. When we get hot, our bodies sweat, and as the sweat evaporates from our skin, it cools us down. This process is called evaporative cooling.
- Hydration: Sweat also helps to keep the outer layers of the skin hydrated. While it may seem counterintuitive, sweating actually helps to prevent the skin from drying out, especially during exercise or hot weather.
