What is the skin divided into two?

Published in Skin Layers 1 min read

The skin is divided into two major layers: the epidermis and the dermis.

  • The epidermis is the outermost layer of skin, composed of several layers of epithelial cells. It acts as a barrier against the environment, protecting the body from infections, dehydration, and UV radiation.
  • The dermis is the deeper layer of skin, located beneath the epidermis. It contains connective tissues, blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, and sweat glands. It provides structural support for the skin, and plays a role in regulating body temperature.
