Is Pink Skin Cool or Warm?

Published in Skin Undertones 2 mins read

Pink skin alone doesn't definitively indicate whether your undertone is cool or warm. It's more complicated than that!

Here's why:

  • Pink is a spectrum: The color pink itself ranges from cool, blue-based magenta pink to warm, yellow-based pinks. The type of pink present in your skin matters.
  • Fair skin often has pink tones: Many people with fair skin, regardless of their undertone, will have some pinkness in their skin. This is due to the thinner skin and increased visibility of blood vessels.
  • Other factors are important: To determine your undertone, consider how your skin reacts to different colors. If you look better in silver jewelry and cool colors like blue and purple, you likely have cool undertones. If you look better in gold jewelry and warm colors like yellow and orange, you likely have warm undertones.

So, what does this mean for you?

Don't just focus on the pink in your skin. Instead, consider the following:

  • How does your skin look in natural light? Does it have a rosy, pink, or bluish hue (cool) or a more peachy, yellow, or golden hue (warm)?
  • How do certain colors make you look? Do cool colors like blue or silver make you look vibrant or do they wash you out? Do warm colors like yellow or gold enhance your complexion?
  • What veins do you see? Do you have blue or purple veins (cool) or green veins (warm)?

By considering these factors, you can get a better sense of your true skin undertones and choose makeup and clothes that flatter you.
