Sweat glands are located all over the body, although they are concentrated on the forehead, armpits, palms, and soles of the feet.
They are found in the deeper layer of the skin, called the dermis. There are two main types of sweat glands:
- Eccrine glands: These are the most numerous and are responsible for most of the sweat produced. They are found all over the body, with a higher concentration on the palms, soles, and forehead.
- Apocrine glands: These glands are located in areas with hair follicles, such as the armpits, groin, and scalp. They produce a thicker sweat that contains proteins and fats.
Sweat glands are essential for regulating body temperature and eliminating waste products.
