Is My Face Oily or Dry?

Published in Skincare 2 mins read

If you notice shine on your cheeks in addition to your forehead and nose, you most likely have oily skin. Oily skin is characterized by an excess production of sebum, which is a natural oil produced by your skin's oil glands. This excess oil can lead to a shiny appearance, clogged pores, and breakouts.

If you have oily skin, you might experience:

  • Shiny skin, especially in the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin)
  • Large pores
  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • Acne
  • A greasy feel to your skin

How to Determine Your Skin Type:

There are several ways to determine your skin type:

  • The Blotting Paper Test: Apply a blotting paper to your face after several hours of wearing no makeup. If the blotting paper is saturated with oil, you likely have oily skin.
  • The Touch Test: After washing your face, gently touch your skin. If your skin feels smooth and slightly greasy, you likely have oily skin.
  • The Visual Test: Observe your skin in the mirror. If you notice a noticeable shine on your nose, forehead, and cheeks, you likely have oily skin.

Remember, your skin type can change over time due to factors like age, hormones, weather, and even your diet.
