What color is snake sperm?

Published in Snake Reproduction 1 min read

Snake sperm can be cloudy white, tan, or even grayish, depending on the snake species and how long it has been stored.

  • Corn snakes have cloudy white to tan semen, as found in studies on semen collection and storage.
  • Brazilian rattlesnakes have white, milky semen.
  • Leopard geckos exhibit a range of colors: colorless, tan, white, and even blood-tinged.

However, it's important to remember that the color of sperm does not indicate the sex of the snake. The presence of two red spots next to the cloaca is not indicative of the snake's sex and is not related to sperm.
