  1. Apply Flux: Begin by applying flux to the pads on the PCB where the socket will be placed. Flux helps the solder flow smoothly and ensures a strong joint.
  2. Presolder 1 Pad: Put a generous amount of solder on just one of the pads for the socket. This creates a solder "blob" that will be used to temporarily hold the socket.
  3. Place Socket on Top: Carefully place the socket onto the presoldered pad and the corresponding empty pad.
  4. Position and Secure with Heat and Pressure: With the socket in place, aim your soldering iron onto the presoldered pad. Apply gentle downward force on the socket with your finger (or a tool) while heating the solder blob on the pad with the iron. This will reflow the solder, allowing the socket to settle flush against the board. Repeat this heating and pressing action on the other pad location of the same socket to help it fully seat, even though that pad wasn't presoldered. The goal is to use the heat from the iron and pressure to melt the tack point and help seat the socket correctly.
