Compost tea is a liquid solution produced by extracting beneficial microorganisms from compost through a brewing process. These microorganisms include bacteria, fungi, protozoa, nematodes, and microarthropods. The goal is to transfer a diverse and thriving microbial community from solid compost into a liquid form that can then be applied to soil or plants. Essentially, a true compost tea will contain a similar makeup of organisms as the compost it was brewed from.
In essence, compost tea can be thought of as a concentrated microbial extract from compost.
