How Do I Add Custom Colors in SolidWorks?

Published in SolidWorks Customization 1 min read

You can add custom colors in SolidWorks through the Document Properties settings. Here's how:

  1. Access Options: Click the Options button (usually on the Standard toolbar) or go to Tools > Options.

  2. Navigate to Model Display: In the Options dialog box, select the Document Properties tab, and then click Model Display.

  3. Select Shading: Under Model / feature colors, choose Shading.

  4. Edit and Define Custom Colors:

    • Click the Edit button next to the color selection.
    • In the Color palette, you can select a pre-existing color.
    • To define a completely new color, click Define Custom Colors. This will allow you to specify the exact shade or hue you desire by adjusting color values (e.g., RGB, HSL). You can also add the newly defined color to the custom color slots for later use.

By following these steps, you can customize the colors used in your SolidWorks models to meet your specific needs and preferences.
