How do you select inverse in Solidworks?

Published in Solidworks Selection 1 min read

To select the inverse in Solidworks, effectively selecting everything except your initially selected items, follow these steps:

  1. Select the item(s) you don't want selected. These are the entities you wish to exclude from the final selection.

  2. Click "Invert Selection". You can do this in one of two ways:

    • Using the Selection Filter Toolbar: If the Selection Filter toolbar is visible, click the "Invert Selection" icon. This icon usually looks like a square with an inverted selection within it.

    • Using the Tools Menu: Go to Tools > Selection > Invert Selection.

After performing either of these methods, all items in the active Solidworks environment except those you initially selected will be selected. This is particularly useful when you need to select a large number of features or faces while excluding only a few.
