The layer that borders space is the exosphere. This is the outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere, gradually fading into the vacuum of space. It is characterized by extremely low atmospheric density and high temperatures, with very few particles present.
The Kármán line, located at an altitude of 100 kilometers (62 miles), is generally considered the boundary between Earth's atmosphere and space. Objects passing this line are typically regarded as being in space.
