To delete variations on Square, follow these steps within the Square app or Square Dashboard:
- Tap the ≡ More button, then select Items.
- Tap All Items and then select the item whose variations you want to delete.
- From the Edit Item view, select Edit Options.
- Select the option set you want to modify and tap Remove option set. This removes the link between the option set and the item; it doesn't delete the variations yet.
- Tap Confirm remove and review the variations listed that will need to be deleted. This will show you the specific variations that will be impacted by removing the option set.
- Tap Delete. This final step permanently deletes the variations.
Important Considerations:
- Deleting variations is permanent. Once deleted, the variation data is gone and cannot be recovered.
- Impact on Sales Data: Be aware that deleting variations may affect your historical sales reports, especially if you rely on tracking specific variations for analysis. Consider exporting sales data before deleting any variations.
- Alternative: Marking as Unavailable: If you want to remove a variation from sale but retain its data, consider marking it as "unavailable" rather than deleting it. This will prevent customers from purchasing it but preserve your sales records. You can do this within the item's details by editing each variation and toggling the "available" switch to off.
