How to Remove Stickers from Freezers

Published in Sticker Removal 2 mins read

Removing stickers from freezers typically involves carefully peeling off the main part of the sticker and then addressing any leftover sticky residue.

Sometimes, peeling the sticker leaves behind a stubborn, sticky mess. This residue can attract dirt and look unsightly. Fortunately, there are effective ways to clean it off using common household items.

Dealing with Sticky Sticker Residue

One highly effective method for removing sticky residue involves using common oils.

  • Choose Your Oil: You can use any kind of oil you have on hand, such as:

    • Vegetable oil
    • Mineral oil
    • Baby oil
    • Eucalyptus oil
  • Apply and Saturate: Rub the oil directly onto the sticky residue. Make sure to saturate the area thoroughly with the oil. The oil helps to break down the adhesive properties of the residue.

  • Rub Away Residue: Once the oil has had a moment to work (you might let it sit for a few minutes), you can start rubbing the sticky residue away. It should become much easier to remove.

  • Clean the Oily Area: After the sticky residue has been successfully removed, you'll need to clean the oily film left behind. Use a soapy mixture (like dish soap and water) and a clean cloth to wash the area where the oil was applied.

  • Rinse and Dry: Finally, wipe the area down with a clean cloth dampened with fresh water to rinse off the soap. Then, use a dry cloth to thoroughly dry the surface.

This process effectively lifts the sticky goo and leaves your freezer surface clean. Always test any cleaning method on a small, inconspicuous area first if you are concerned about the finish of your freezer.

Applying a little heat with a hairdryer on a low setting can sometimes make peeling the initial sticker easier, but be cautious not to overheat the appliance surface. The oil method is specifically for tackling the sticky adhesive that remains.
