The stomach is made up of four layers:
- Mucosa: This is the innermost layer of the stomach, lined with epithelial tissue and containing gastric glands that secrete gastric juices.
- Submucosa: This layer lies beneath the mucosa and contains blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic vessels.
- Muscularis Externa: This is the muscular layer of the stomach, responsible for the churning and mixing of food.
- Serosa: This is the outermost layer of the stomach and is made up of connective tissue.
These four layers work together to ensure proper digestion and absorption of food.
