Adding audio to your Toon Boom storyboard is a crucial step in bringing your story to life. It typically begins by creating a dedicated audio track within your project's timeline. An audio track serves as a layer where you can import and arrange your sound files, such as dialogue, sound effects, or music, in sync with your visuals.
Toon Boom Storyboard Pro provides multiple ways to add a new audio track to your project, giving you flexibility depending on your workflow.
Methods to Add a New Audio Track
Here are the primary ways to add a new audio track to your storyboard:
Using the Top Menu
A standard method is to use the application's main menu bar. This approach is available regardless of which workspace view you are currently focused on.
- In the top menu, select Storyboard.
- Hover your cursor over the New option in the dropdown menu.
- Click on New Audio Track from the submenu.
This action will instantly add a new, empty audio track to your Timeline view.
Via the Timeline View
The Timeline view is where you manage and organize all your project's layers and tracks. You can directly add an audio track within this view for efficiency.
- Locate the Timeline view in your workspace.
- Right-click either on the header of an existing audio track or in the empty grey area underneath all current tracks.
- From the context menu that appears, select New Audio Track.
This method is quick when you are already working within the Timeline.
From the Clips and Tracks Toolbar
For quick access, especially if you frequently add new tracks, you can use a dedicated button in the Clips and Tracks toolbar.
- Find the Clips and Tracks toolbar, which is often located near the Timeline or other track-management areas.
- Click the New Audio Track button (often represented by an icon like a musical note or speaker with a plus sign).
Each of these methods successfully adds a new audio track to your storyboard project, preparing it for you to import and place your desired audio files.
