Steps to Migrate and Open Tally.ERP 9 Data in TallyPrime
Here are the steps to prepare your Tally.ERP 9 data for use in TallyPrime:
- Open Tally.ERP 9 and Find the Company: Start by opening your Tally.ERP 9 application and identify the specific company whose data you wish to migrate. Note down the Company Number and the Data Path shown in Tally.ERP 9.
- Locate the Tally.ERP 9 Data Folder: Navigate to the folder where your Tally.ERP 9 data is saved. You can find this path from the Company Information screen in Tally.ERP 9 or from the
Tally.inifile located in the Tally.ERP 9 installation directory. - Copy Data to TallyPrime Data Folder: Now, copy the folder corresponding to the company you want to migrate (identified by its Company Number, e.g.,
10000,10001, etc.) from the Tally.ERP 9 data location. Paste this folder into the TallyPrime data folder. You can find the TallyPrime data folder path from the TallyPrime installation directory or within the TallyPrime application itself (typically via F1 > Settings > Data Path).
Once the data folder is copied to the TallyPrime data location, open TallyPrime. TallyPrime will automatically detect the Tally.ERP 9 data folders that need migration. Select the company from the list, and TallyPrime will prompt you to migrate it. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the migration process. After successful migration, you will be able to open and work with your old data in TallyPrime.
