Making tea in a bowl is a simple, traditional method. Here's how to do it:
- Warm the bowl: Pour hot water into the bowl to warm it. This helps maintain the tea's temperature later.
- Discard the water: Empty the warming water from the bowl.
- Add tea leaves: Place a pinch (adjust to your preference) of your chosen tea leaves into the warm bowl.
- Add hot water: Pour hot water (not boiling) into the bowl, filling it about two-thirds full.
- Steep: Allow the tea leaves to unfurl and sink to the bottom. This usually takes a few minutes, but steeping time will vary depending on the type of tea.
- Drink: Carefully drink the tea, avoiding swallowing the leaves. Some leaves will inevitably be consumed, but allowing them to settle helps minimize this.
This method is also applicable to mugs and bottles.
