Why does my daughter not wash?

Published in Teen Hygiene 2 mins read

There could be several reasons why your daughter might not be washing regularly.

  • She may not understand the importance of hygiene. Teenagers, in particular, might not take hygiene as seriously as adults do. They might not understand the connection between cleanliness and health, or they may simply not see the need to wash as often as you think they should.
  • She might be overwhelmed with other things going on in her life. School, friends, extracurricular activities, and other commitments can easily take priority over personal hygiene for teenagers.
  • She could be struggling with an emotional issue. Depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges can sometimes lead to neglect of personal care, including washing.

It's important to approach this topic with understanding and empathy. Try to have an open and honest conversation with your daughter to see if you can uncover the underlying reason for her reluctance to wash. You can also encourage her to take care of her hygiene by setting a good example, making it easier for her to wash (like providing a clean bathroom and supplies), and offering support if she's struggling with an emotional issue.
