What teeth fall first?

Published in Tooth Loss 1 min read

The first baby teeth to fall out are most often the two bottom front teeth, called the lower central incisors. These are usually followed by the two top front teeth, called the upper central incisors.

While most children lose their first tooth between 5 and 7 years old, every child is unique, and some may lose their first tooth as early as 4 years old or as late as 8.

The order in which teeth fall out is generally consistent:

  • Lower central incisors (6-7 years old)
  • Upper central incisors (7-8 years old)
  • Lateral incisors (7-8 years old)
  • First molars (9-11 years old)
  • Canines (9-12 years old)
  • Second molars (10-12 years old)

It's important to remember that this is just a general guideline, and the actual timing of tooth loss can vary significantly from child to child. If you have any concerns about your child's teeth, it's always best to talk to a dentist.
