Here’s how to turn off your Apple Touch ID feature:

  1. Access Settings: On your Apple device, navigate to the Settings app.

  2. Go to Touch ID & Passcode: Scroll down and select Touch ID & Passcode.

  3. Disable Touch ID Options: You'll see a list of options for using Touch ID. Turn off one or more of these by toggling the switches next to them.

    Touch ID Option Description
iPhone Unlock Disables Touch ID for unlocking your device.
Apple Pay Disables Touch ID for authenticating Apple Pay transactions.
iTunes & App Store Disables Touch ID for purchases in these stores.

Disabling Individual Features

  • You can choose to disable Touch ID only for certain functions. For example, you might disable it for unlocking your phone but keep it active for Apple Pay.
  • To turn off any Touch ID feature, tap the toggle switch next to the option. When the toggle is gray, the feature is disabled. When green, the feature is enabled.

Complete Deactivation of Touch ID

  • To completely deactivate Touch ID, turn off all the options listed in the Touch ID & Passcode settings.

Important Notes

  • After disabling Touch ID, you will have to use your passcode instead for authentication.
  • You can reactivate Touch ID at any time by returning to the Touch ID & Passcode settings and toggling the desired options back on.
