DR-TB in Tuberculosis stands for Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis.
Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB) occurs when the bacteria that cause TB become resistant to the drugs used to treat the disease. This means the medication is no longer effective in killing the TB bacteria. One significant type of DR-TB is Multidrug-Resistant TB (MDR-TB), which is resistant to at least Isoniazid and Rifampicin, two of the most powerful first-line anti-TB drugs.
