Audrey Azoulay was elected to head the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on November 10, 2017. She is the second woman to hold this position, succeeding Irina Bokova. Her election was endorsed by the General Conference, which is made up of 195 member states.
