Which side is the TT injection given?

Published in Vaccine Administration 1 min read

The side on which a TT (tetanus toxoid) injection is given depends on the age of the recipient.

  • For infants to two years old, the anterolateral aspect of the thigh is the preferred injection site.
  • For children aged three and older, the deltoid muscle is the preferred injection site.

This is because the deltoid muscle is better developed in older children and adults, making it a suitable location for intramuscular injections.
