The starter switch, also known as an ignition switch or start switch, is the primary interface used by the driver to control the flow of electrical power within the vehicle. It's more than just the point where you insert your key; it's a multi-functional switch that manages power distribution to various systems.

Based on its function, a starter switch is a switch in the control system of a motor vehicle that activates the main electrical systems for the vehicle, as well as secondary components. This includes power to the "accessories" (radio, power windows, etc.) when the engine isn't running, and ultimately, power to the starter motor to crank the engine.

How it Works

Traditionally, a starter switch is operated by a physical key inserted into a lock cylinder. Modern vehicles increasingly use electronic systems with a push-button start, but the underlying principle remains the same: the switch controls which electrical circuits receive power.
