You can edit an imported video in Canva directly within your design. Here's how:
-
Select the Video: On your Canva design, click on the video you want to edit. This should highlight the video with a border.
-
Access the Editing Toolbar: Once selected, a toolbar will appear below the Canva editor.
-
Trim the Video (Basic Editing): You'll see a visual representation of your video timeline below the editor. This timeline shows highlighted (visible) and grayed-out (hidden) portions of your video.
-
Adjust the Duration:
- Shorten the Video: Drag the sliders on either end of the highlighted section inward to shorten the beginning or end of the video.
- Lengthen the Video: Drag the sliders outward (if there is available footage in the grayed-out sections) to extend the beginning or end of the video.
Beyond Basic Trimming:
Canva also offers additional editing features, depending on your subscription level and the features available for the video:
- Adjust Volume: Look for the volume control (usually an icon of a speaker) in the toolbar. You can adjust the video's volume from muted to full.
- Flip and Rotate: You might find options to flip the video horizontally or vertically, or rotate it.
- Filters: Canva allows you to apply filters to your video to change its color and style. Look for a "Filters" or "Adjust" button in the toolbar.
- Adjust Brightness, Contrast, and More: The "Adjust" option (if available) will often allow you to tweak the video's brightness, contrast, saturation, and other visual properties.
- Animation (if applicable): You can also add basic animations to your video, such as fade-in or zoom effects. This depends on the video type and the features available within Canva.
- Split: Enables you to split the video into two separate clips at a selected point on the timeline.
By using these features, you can customize imported videos to fit perfectly within your Canva designs.
