To split a clip in Premiere Pro, you can use the Razor tool or a keyboard shortcut. This allows you to divide a single clip into two separate clips at a specific point in your timeline.
Here's how to do it:
Using the Razor Tool:
- Select the Razor Tool in the Tools panel. (It looks like a razor blade).
- Click on the exact point on the clip in your timeline where you want to make the cut.
- Premiere Pro will split the clip into two separate clips at that point.
Using a Keyboard Shortcut:
- Place the playhead (the vertical line indicating the current time) at the desired point on the clip where you want to split it.
- Press Ctrl+K (Windows) or Cmd+K (Mac). This will split the clip under the playhead. You can also customize the keyboard shortcut in Premiere Pro's Keyboard Shortcuts settings if needed. (Premiere Pro > Keyboard Shortcuts).
Once the clip is split, you can move, trim, or apply effects to each section independently.
