To copy and paste color correction from one clip to another in Adobe Premiere Pro, you'll use the "Copy" and "Paste Attributes" functions. Here's how:
-
Select the Source Clip: In your Premiere Pro sequence, click on the clip containing the color correction you want to copy. This highlights the clip.
-
Copy the Attributes: Go to the Edit menu in the top menu bar and select Copy. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (macOS).
-
Select the Destination Clip(s): Click on the clip(s) where you want to apply the copied color correction. You can select multiple clips by holding down Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (macOS) while clicking.
-
Paste the Attributes: Go to the Edit menu again and select Paste Attributes. Or, use the shortcut Alt+Shift+V (Windows) or Option+Shift+V (macOS).
-
Choose Which Attributes to Paste: A dialog box will appear, showing all the attributes you can paste. Make sure the checkboxes for the color correction attributes you want (e.g., Lumetri Color) are selected. If you only want to copy the color, deselect everything else. Click OK.
Now, the color correction from the original clip will be applied to the selected destination clip(s).
Important Considerations:
-
Lumetri Color: If you are using the Lumetri Color panel for your color correction, all of its settings are bundled under the "Lumetri Color" attribute, making it easy to copy and paste your entire grade.
-
Master Clip Effects: If you applied the color correction at the Master Clip level, you will need to copy/paste the effects differently. You can copy effects from the Effects Control Panel.
-
Selective Pasting: The "Paste Attributes" dialog box is crucial because it allows you to selectively apply specific attributes. For example, you might want to copy only the color correction and not any motion or opacity settings.
-
Adjustment Layers: For more complex workflows or to apply the same color correction across multiple clips, consider using Adjustment Layers. Apply the color correction to the adjustment layer, and it will affect all clips beneath it. You only have to change the color on one adjustment layer.
-
Presets: Save your color correction as a preset if you plan on using it often. Right-click the Lumetri Color effect in the Effects Controls panel and choose "Save Preset..."
