How to Crop an Image in Premiere Pro?

Cropping an image in Adobe Premiere Pro is achieved using the Crop effect, which is located within the Transform folder.

Steps to Crop an Image

Here's how to effectively crop your images in Premiere Pro:

  1. Locate the Crop Effect: Navigate to the Effects panel and find the Transform folder. Inside, you will see the Crop effect.

  2. Apply the Effect: Drag and drop the Crop effect onto the video clip you wish to crop within your timeline.

  3. Adjust Crop Parameters: With the clip selected, go to the Effects Controls panel on the left-hand side. You will now see the Crop parameters.

    • Left, Right, Top, Bottom: These parameters allow you to crop the image from the corresponding edges. Adjust these values to your desired cropping.
    • Percentage or Pixels: You can crop by percentage of the frame or by pixel values, giving you precise control over your crop.

Example

Let's say you have a video clip and you want to remove the edges.

  • You would apply the crop effect to your clip.
  • Then, under Effect Controls, you can use the following parameters to crop your video clip:
    • Left - Adjust value to crop from the left side
    • Right - Adjust value to crop from the right side
    • Top - Adjust value to crop from the top
    • Bottom - Adjust value to crop from the bottom

By adjusting these values, you will achieve the desired crop on your image.
