Published in Virology 1 min read

Elephant pox is a disease caused by certain orthopoxviruses, a group that also includes viruses responsible for smallpox, cowpox, and monkeypox. In humans, infection with a related orthopoxvirus can result in symptoms affecting the skin and mucous membranes, as well as fever, systemic illness, or even death.
