How to Mount a VHD File?

Published in Virtual Disk Management 1 min read

To mount a VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) file in Windows, follow these steps using Disk Management:

  1. Open Disk Management: In the search box on the taskbar, type "Computer Management" and select Disk Management from the results. This opens the Disk Management utility, which is where you will perform the mount.

  2. Attach VHD: In Disk Management, go to the Action menu and select Attach VHD.

  3. Browse for VHD File: In the "Attach Virtual Hard Disk" dialog box that appears, click the Browse button to locate your .vhd file.

  4. Select the VHD: Find and select the specific .vhd file you want to mount, and click OK.

Once you've completed these steps, the VHD file will be mounted as a new drive in your system. You can then access the files and folders within the VHD as you would with any other drive.
