How Do You Adjust a Mesh Watch Strap?

Published in Watch Strap Adjustment 2 mins read

Adjusting a mesh watch strap, often found on watches with a Milanese loop style, is a straightforward process primarily involving the strap's unique adjustable buckle.

Step-by-Step Adjustment Process

To achieve a comfortable fit with your mesh watch strap, you will need to reposition the sliding buckle. This mechanism requires careful handling to unlock, move, and relock.

Follow these steps to adjust your mesh band:

  1. Open the Top Clasp: On the adjustable buckle, open the top clasp. This is the outer part that clips onto the strap when the watch is worn.
  2. Unlock the Mechanism: Place a small flathead screwdriver or a suitable tool (like a spring bar tool) in the square slot on the buckle's locking plate to open it. Gently lever the plate upwards to release the lock gripping the strap.
  3. Slide to Desired Position: With the locking mechanism open, slide the entire adjustable buckle assembly along the mesh strap to the position that best fits your wrist. It's important to ensure that when you eventually close the buckle, the clasp part can be set into one of the indentations or grooves typically found on the back of the band for a secure grip.
  4. Secure the Buckle: Close the piece with the square slot by pressing down firmly on the locking plate. You may feel or hear a click as it snaps back into its locked position, securing the buckle onto the mesh strap.

Once the buckle is locked in its new position, test the fit on your wrist. If it's too loose or too tight, simply repeat the steps to make further adjustments.
