The Power of Getting Close
One effective way to utilize a wide-angle lens is to physically position yourself very near your foreground subject.
- Short Minimum Focus Distance: Wide-angle lenses are often designed with very short minimum focal distances. This means your lens can focus sharply even when you are only 20-30cm away from something right in front of it.
- Combining Near and Far: By getting this close to your foreground, you create a strong sense of depth and scale. Even though you are so near the foreground element, the wide angle lens ensures you still capture the expansive, sweeping landscape or background behind it.
