To reinstall Windows 11, follow these steps using installation media:
-
Connect the Installation Media: Ensure the USB drive or DVD containing the Windows 11 installation files is connected to your computer.
-
Boot from the Installation Media:
- Restart your PC.
- During the startup process, look for a prompt (usually pressing a key like Delete, F2, F12, or Esc) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings or a boot menu. The specific key varies depending on your computer manufacturer.
- In the BIOS/UEFI settings or boot menu, select your USB drive or DVD drive as the boot device.
-
Windows Setup:
- Your computer should now boot from the installation media.
- When Windows Setup starts, select your language, time and currency format, and keyboard or input method.
- Click Next.
- Click Install now.
-
Product Key (if prompted):
- If you have a Windows 11 product key, enter it when prompted.
- If you don't have a product key, you might be able to select "I don't have a product key" to proceed. Keep in mind that you will eventually need to activate Windows 11.
-
Select the Operating System:
- If prompted, select the edition of Windows 11 you want to install (e.g., Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro).
-
Accept the License Terms:
- Read and accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
- Click Next.
-
Choose the Installation Type:
- Select "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)". This option allows you to choose where to install Windows and manage partitions.
- Important: Be aware that this will erase all data on the selected partition.
-
Select the Installation Drive:
- Choose the drive or partition where you want to install Windows 11.
- You can format, delete, or create partitions on the drive if needed. Be extremely cautious when deleting or formatting partitions, as this will erase all data on them.
- Click Next.
-
Installing Windows:
- Windows will now begin installing. This process may take some time, and your computer will restart several times.
-
Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE):
- After the installation is complete, your computer will boot into the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your user account, privacy settings, and other preferences.
-
Install Drivers and Updates:
- Once you've reached the Windows 11 desktop, install any necessary drivers for your hardware (graphics card, network adapter, etc.).
- Check for and install Windows Updates to ensure your system is up-to-date. You can do this by going to Settings > Windows Update.
Important Considerations:
- Back Up Your Data: Before reinstalling Windows, back up all your important files and data to an external drive or cloud storage. Reinstalling Windows will erase the contents of your hard drive.
- Drivers: Make sure you have access to the necessary drivers for your hardware components. You can usually download drivers from the manufacturer's website.
- Product Key: Have your Windows 11 product key readily available if required during installation.
- Internet Connection: You will need an active internet connection during the setup process to activate Windows 11, download updates, and optionally sign in with a Microsoft Account.
