How to open ISO file Windows 11?

Published in Windows 11 2 mins read

To open an ISO file in Windows 11, you can use the built-in Windows Explorer functionality.

Here's how:

  1. Right-click on the ISO file you want to open.
  2. Select "Properties" from the context menu.
  3. In the Properties window, find the section labeled "Open with:". If it doesn't show Windows Explorer, click the "Change..." button.
  4. A window will appear asking "How do you want to open this file?". Choose "Windows Explorer" from the list of applications.
  5. If Windows Explorer is not listed, click on "More apps" and scroll through the list. If it's still not visible, select "Look for another app on this PC" and navigate to the Windows Explorer executable (usually located in C:\Windows).
  6. Click "OK" to save the changes.
  7. Now, simply double-click the ISO file. It should be mounted as a virtual drive, which you can access in File Explorer just like any other drive.

Alternatively, you can directly mount the ISO file:

  1. Right-click the ISO file.
  2. Select "Mount" from the context menu.

This will mount the ISO file as a virtual drive. To unmount the ISO file, right-click on the virtual drive in File Explorer and select "Eject".
