How to Download Windows ISO File?

Published in Windows Installation 2 mins read

You can download a Windows ISO file directly from Microsoft using their Media Creation Tool. Here's how:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool: Go to the Microsoft website and download the Media Creation Tool. The exact name may vary slightly depending on the Windows version (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11). Look for a section like "Create Windows [Version] installation media".

  2. Run the Media Creation Tool: Double-click the downloaded file (e.g., MediaCreationTool.exe or MediaCreationTool22H2.exe) to run it. You'll need administrator privileges.

  3. Accept the License Terms: Read and accept the license terms.

  4. Choose Creation Option: Select "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC" and click "Next."

  5. Select Language, Edition, and Architecture: Choose the language, Windows edition (e.g., Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro), and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) for the ISO file. If you are unsure, select "Use the recommended options for this PC". Click "Next."

  6. Choose Media: Select "ISO file" and click "Next".

  7. Choose Save Location: Choose a location on your computer to save the ISO file and click "Save".

  8. Download and Create: The Media Creation Tool will then download the necessary files and create the ISO file at the specified location. This process can take some time depending on your internet connection speed.

  9. Finish: Once the process is complete, click "Finish."

The Windows ISO file is now downloaded and ready to use for creating a bootable USB drive or virtual machine.
