How do I clear Windows activity?

Published in Windows Privacy 2 mins read

To clear your Windows activity history, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open Settings: Click the Start button, then select the Settings app.

  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security: In the Settings window, click on Privacy & Security.

  3. Access Activity History: In the left-hand menu, click on Activity history.

  4. Clear Activity History: Under the "Clear activity history for this account" section, click the Clear history button.

This will clear the activity history stored on your device for the selected account. This includes information about the websites you've browsed, apps you've used, and files you've opened.

Important Considerations:

  • Microsoft Account: If you use a Microsoft account, some of your activity data might be stored in the cloud. You may need to manage your privacy settings on your Microsoft account online to fully clear your activity.
  • Cortana: Clearing your activity history may also affect Cortana's personalized suggestions and recommendations.
  • Re-enable Tracking: Be aware that this action doesn't prevent future activity from being tracked if the "Let Windows collect my activities from this PC" checkbox is checked. Uncheck this box to stop future activity tracking.
