How to Split Screen on HP Elitebook?

Published in Windows Productivity 2 mins read

Splitting the screen on an HP Elitebook is straightforward using built-in Windows features. Here's how you can do it:

Using Windows Snap

Windows Snap is the easiest way to split your screen:

  1. Select a window: Click on the title bar of the window you want to snap to one side of the screen.
  2. Snap to the Left: Press and hold the Windows key and then press the Left Arrow key. This will move the selected window to occupy the left half of your screen.
  3. Snap to the Right: Select another window. Press and hold the Windows key and then press the Right Arrow key. This will snap the second window to the right half of your screen.

Now you'll have two windows side-by-side, effectively splitting your screen. You can adjust the divider between the windows by clicking and dragging it left or right.

Using the Mouse (Drag and Drop)

Alternatively, you can use your mouse:

  1. Click and Drag: Click and hold the title bar of the window you want to split.
  2. Drag to the Edge: Drag the window to either the far left or far right edge of the screen. A transparent overlay will appear, indicating where the window will snap.
  3. Release: Release the mouse button, and the window will snap to that side of the screen.
  4. Select Second Window: Windows will then display thumbnails of other open windows. Select the window you want to fill the remaining space.

Keyboard Navigation After Snapping

After snapping windows, you can easily navigate between them using the keyboard:

  • Arrow Keys: Use the arrow keys (Left and Right) to highlight the window you want to switch to. Press Enter to select it.

These methods provide a quick and efficient way to work with multiple applications simultaneously on your HP Elitebook, improving productivity and multitasking capabilities.
