How to Remove Window Repair Resin

Published in Windshield Repair 1 min read

To remove window repair resin, especially if it's excess material after a repair has cured, you typically need to scrape it off once it's dry.

If you have applied window repair resin and covered it with strips, and the resin is still wet under those strips, you should first leave the strips in place and move the windshield into direct sunlight. Wait until the repair resin is dry before attempting to remove any excess.

Once the resin has hardened and dried, you can then:

  • Scrape away the hardened excess resin with the razor blade.
  • For the best results when scraping, hold the razor blade at a 90° angle to the windshield.

This method effectively removes the surplus material that remains on the glass surface after the repair area itself has been filled and cured. It's crucial that the resin is completely dry and hardened before you attempt to scrape it off to avoid smearing or damaging the repair itself.
